Gregory Peters, Ph.D. is a Rady StartR Spring 2020 alumni and is Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of BrilliantBiome and completed the Rady StartR program with Sierra Simpson, Ph.D., and Carrie Herbert MBA. BrilliantBiome is a gut-brain-microbiome axis company that is working to prevent addiction and assist in recovery. Rady StartR prepared our team to be ready to compete and win multiple business competitions including the 2020 Fowler Global Social Innovation Challenge – 2nd Place and 2021 UC Startup Innovation Challenge – Social Impact Award, and the 2021 AWS US University Startups – 2nd Place competition. Greg completed his Ph.D. through the University of California San Diego and San Diego State University in Biology focusing on pathogenic bacteria and their viruses, known as bacteriophages. He assisted with coral reef research developing viral-associated technologies to treat coral reefs infected with pathogenic microbes. Greg also completed his M.S. in Biology through San Diego State University and completed the Biotechnology Fellowship Program and developed an antibody discovery technology. Greg completed his B.S. in Biology through the University of California Santa Barbara. Greg loves the ocean and enjoys surfing and SCUBA diving and is NAUI open water certified in Santa Barbara and completed his PADI advanced diving certification and deep dive certifications through UCSD Recreation in La Jolla and Scripps Canyon.
